What We Believe

1. God is triune: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
(We are intrinsically linked with the historic and ancient Christian Church)
Matthew 28:19:Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
2 Corinthians 13:14:May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
2. Jesus is the only Lord and Savior.
(Jesus is building his church and calling people of all nations and races not only to faith but also to discipleship)
John 14:6:Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:12:Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
3. Everyone who confesses Jesus is Lord and in fact believes and follows him will be saved.
(A Christian offers heartfelt allegiance to and belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior, which is more than merely church membership and following certain religious practices.)
John 1:12-13:Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
John 3:16:"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 4:12:Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved." (TNIV)
Romans 10:9:That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
4. The Bible is our only authority for faith and life and God's infallible word.
(Everyone believes something and we believe the Bible and seek to align our thoughts and way to conform to it.)
Psalm 119:105: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
2Timothy 3:16:All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
5. Worship is vital for spiritual growth.
(Whom or what we worship shapes us, so regular participation in worship is formative)
Deuteronomy 6:13:Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.
 2Kings 17:38-39:do not worship other gods. Rather, worship the Lord your God;
John 4:23-24:Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Hebrews 10:24-25:And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
6. The Holy Spirit gifts every Christ-follower for service.
(God the Holy Spirit empowers all who follow Jesus for witness and service in Jesus' name)
Romans 12:4-8:Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
1Corinthians 12:4-6:There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. ... All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
1Peter 4:10-11:Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
7. Following Jesus transforms lives.
(God loves us as we are but God loves us too much to allow us to remain unchanged)
Romans 12:1-2:Therefore, I urge you in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
2Corinthians 5:17:Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
8. Pursuit of spiritual maturity is expected of every Christ-follower.
(We are to grow in understanding, faithful living, prayer, service and stewardship)
Psalm 1:1-3:Blessed are those who do not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but who delight is in the law of the Lord and mediate on his law day and night. They are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers. (TNIV)
Ephesians 4:12-13:... that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Colossians. 1:9-10:For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, ... We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
9. We are called to love one another as God loves us.
(Because God is love and loves all people our defining character trait is to love; love one another, our neighbors, all people.)
John 3:16:"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 13:34-35:"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
2Peter 3:9:The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
1John 4:7:Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
10. Jesus will return and judge all who have ever lived.
(Knowing we will give an account to the Lord helps hold us accountable for what we believe and how we live.)
2 Corinthians 5:9-10:So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
Hebrews 9:27:Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Revelation 20:11-13: Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. ... And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. ... and each person was judged according to what he had done.
